Is it possible to extend Schengen health insurance retrospectively while staying in the Schengen Area?

Are you already in Europe and your stay in the Schengen Area has been extended, meaning you need to expand your Schengen health insurance coverage for the longer duration? An extension of your Schengen health insurance after your arrival is possible, provided it has been approved, and we can arrange this for you. In order for us to extend your Schengen health insurance while you are in Europe, we require the following information:

• The current policy number of your Schengen health insurance.
• The period (from–to) by which the insurance contract is to be extended.

Our recommendation: Please avoid the need for subsequent extensions of coverage whenever possible to eliminate the risk of rejected applications. You can do this without risk by choosing a longer coverage period for your Schengen health insurance from the very beginning.
