Can Schengen health insurance be terminated early if I leave Europe early?

You have taken out Schengen health insurance, but are now ending your stay in Europe early and would like to know if you can also terminate your insurance policy prematurely? This is indeed possible, and in this case, any insurance premiums already paid for the period after your departure from the Schengen area will be refunded. The coverage of your Schengen insurance ends upon your departure from the Schengen area.

To terminate your Schengen health insurance early, please provide us with your cancellation request along with the following information and proof:

• The policy number of your Schengen health insurance.
• The date of departure from the Schengen area.
• Proof of departure from the Schengen area – for example, your flight confirmation for the return journey.

We will then terminate your insurance policy prematurely and arrange for the refund of the overpaid insurance premiums. The refund will be issued to the payment method you used when booking your Schengen insurance.
